Root Canals

An opening is made through the crown of your tooth. The pulp is removed and the root canals are cleaned, then filled. The crown is then restored.

Save your tooth with a root canal.

Root canal treatment may be necessary when a tooth’s pulp (the soft tissue inside your tooth canals which contain blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue) becomes infected or diseased. An abscess may form causing pain and swelling. Even if you do not feel pain, bacteria can damage the bone holding the tooth in the jaw, resulting in the loss of a tooth.
Causes of inflamed pulp might include:
  • a deep cavity
  • repeated dental procedures
  • a cracked or broken tooth (even if there is no visible crack or chip)
A root canal is a relatively simple procedure done in one or more visits with local anesthesia so you experience little or no discomfort. During root canal treatment, our dentists remove the diseased pulp from the tooth. The pulp chamber and root canal are then cleaned and sealed. The tooth will then be fitted with a permanent crown to prevent further damage or decay.
A tooth without its nerve can still develop cavities or gum disease, so come in for regular cleaning and checkups.
We look forward to giving you the best dental experience you’ve ever had.
